Although this is true, this tendency does not affect the bottom-line acceptance statistic which counts all non-reporting pledgers as rejects.

17.8% of Class of 2014 CC SCEA pledgers were accepted last year. Another 3 were accepted in the RD round after deferral, meaning 20.6% in all were accepted. This final number was even higher for the previous year – 27% of Class of 2013 CC SCEA pledgers were accepted.

I’m with you, but the most relevant number is 2014, and 20.6% is hardly close to 30.

I am so ridiculously nervous I have kind of managed to trick myself into not being nervous… but I know I am. I cannot imagine what I am going to do when it is December 15th and I know I only have to wait a few more hours. It’s crazy! 36 more days! Best of luck to everyone!!!

with my interview, i pretty much guaranteed my ultimate rejection. i might be too depressed to come back and give my decision. yeah, i know, that defeats the purpose of pledging in the first place. all i wanted was to see my dream come true.

^i’m sorry to hear that…what exactly happened?

regardless, i don’t think you should be so quick to give up hope. know that the interview counts very little towards the final decision. a bad interview shouldn’t be able to nudge a would-be-accept into the reject pile.

agreed. don’t worry about it. unless you were sexist, racist, or something like that, i’m pretty sure a bad interview wouldn’t put you in the auto-reject pile. i think an adcom from yale said that once in an info session too.

Yeah, my friend had an AWFUL Yale interview–she said she could hardly even hear what her interviewer was saying (they were in a crowded cafe). Her Pton interviewer loved her, though, and asked whether she was going–she had to tell him she hadn’t gotten in! But she did get into Yale… and is there now!

So don’t worry so much about the interview. : )
