And that's about it. I could try to retake the SAT if it would help any (this is only my second time taking it)

Ethnicity, Geographic location, SatII's?

What do you mean that you have fourteen fives. That would be including your senior year. That means you are not a senior?
Your chances are great, at least academically. In fact, your academics probably exceed anybody else here. You show initiative in your ECs, but they are not that great. Are you joking when you say that you want to retake your SAT's? Those scores are more than good enough.

Haha, retake a 2380. You didn't list your GPA/Rank. If your school weighs GPA's then that's a pretty big factor...

Your scores, GPA, are AMAZING. However, you have little to none ECs so that will just hurt you a lot. You need some amazing ec's for harvard!

Chicago area Caucsian female. Immigrant parents (if it makes any difference)

I am a senior this year, perhaps I should've been clearer. Based on the current trends, I say I'll probably try hard to get fives on those tests. So this is a big 'what if'.

And sorry! Rank 1/426 (Weighted. Our school weighs AP classes as a 6.0 A. So in sheer number I have more than anyone else)

GPA-
Weighted 5.89
UW- Not known

SAT IIs-
World History- 800
Literature- 790
Writing- 800

I wasn't joking when I said I could retake my SAT. I studied for months for that test, got a tutor, the whole works. But lately, these stories about people with perfect scores getting rejected have been scaring me.

Darn! I knew I should've taken more ECs. Wouldn't commitment to one or two count though?

Your EC's are fine. You've got as good a shot as anybody. Extraordinary EC's are only a big thing if your scores aren't stellar. Your scores, however, are stellar so your EC's are not gonna be a problem.

what school is this?

Mine? I go to John Hersey Highschool in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Nothing extraordinary, just a public school. The AP overload is my manipulation of the public school system... so it can be done anywhere.

"Your EC's are fine. You've got as good a shot as anybody. Extraordinary EC's are only a big thing if your scores aren't stellar. Your scores, however, are stellar so your EC's are not gonna be a problem."

Ha cool, i think i have some cool ec's, but way bad scores.

Ok what im wondering is how have you taken 16 ap's as a senior? did you take any as a freshmen? I am a junior and i will have taken 10 at the end of this year. i took more ap's then any other student in my class last year with 3. Freshmen at my school arent allowed to take ap classes. so if you are a senior with with 14 plus the ones you are taking now as a senior, your set. you are a top runner for the state ap award. too bad that you wont be able to put that on your resume, you wont know you won until you are a frosh in college. My school produced both male and female ap state scholars last year and they each had 17 tests. tell us how you got that many ap's in.

btw: if you are a senior, theres not much you can do so dont worry about ec's. um if you still have time to get some ec's in, run for pres in a club, that will help; its not difficult if you just act pleasant.

also what do you mean by ok scores freshmen year? how did your rank rise so high with only "ok scores" (I ask cause i had Bs all year as a freshman and soph but now get all a's, but i dont think i can improve my rank)

On the topic of AP State scholar:
Do you think I have a chance? I have 8 fives and one three and am taking 8 more this year. I'm a male in florida.

yeah i think you have a chance. but if you look at the the way it is calculated, it is the quantity not the quality that gets you the prize. 17 seems like a good number, but even though this is unfair, a person who gets 18 3's will be able win the award over you simply because they took 1 more then you. it is the number taken then the highest average. im going that route-im terrible at ap tests, i got a 4,4,and a 3 on my first 3 tests so im not hot. but if i can get more tests taken then anyone in my state, i have a good shot to win.
