oh no, please help

Hello,
I am a junior, and as soon as Christmas break strted, I was considered to be homeschooled. I am not extremely bright, and cannot take tests, but I was practically sleeping through school. They moved too slow and I had grades that would have been hundreds, except for the tests. I never toguth about it in the view of a college admissions office. Now I am extremely worried about if I will be able to have a future..
I would love to be able to go to East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania, and I know, that in high school, I would probably get accepted, but now, I am not so sure. I am taking high school courses (my regular AP classes) and I attend Upward Bound, which is a program that takes place at a university here (Wilkes). I am extremely serious about college, and I have applie to take the SATs in March, so that I can take the new one with the essay.
Please, if you have any info on what I can do to make sure I get into college, leave a message.....It would mean the word to me :)

You might check the College Board website. They have a page just for homeschoolers. That might give some good advice.

Keep track of what you study, materials used, books read. Make up an extracurricular resume listing activities, jobs, honors. You will need to make your own transcript listing all classes, grades, etc. And it might help to have a cover letter explaining why you homeschool and methods you use. Homeschoolers can get into college; it is really not a problem. But it does help to have a good paper trail.

Try to take the SAT I's and at least 3 SAT 2 tests.
Take many AP courses and register for the tests.
Get involved in EC's or community service programs with one as your specialty. Practice writing your college essays and personal statements soon and possibly take a writing workshop. There is a group in PA called
pahomeschoolers....great stuff.
There is a great yahoo group called hs2coll...join it and start posting.
There is more traffic on that yahooboard.
Reach high for some great schools.

If you cannot take tests but want to go to a certain college I think you should contact them ASAP. They may give you an alternative way to prove your ability.

On the other hand, why can't you take tests? Is it something you could get over? I think that is very limiting and if possible I would view it as something very important to try to learn to do as well as you can.

Test taking is just a skill that can be learned like anything else.

Obviously, if you are taking AP courses, you are college material. What do you do about the AP tests?

You might want to take an SAT prep course if you aren't a good test taker. Our ds took Testmasters ( www.testmasters.com ) and it was great for him. Most colleges don't discriminate against homeschoolers. Contact the college you are wanting to attend and ask them if there is anything you should be doing differently. It sounds like you are doing just fine to me!
