Hook: First Gen college student

I think you have an awesome shot in the RD round. I'd say you are no less than stellar!

Hey,
just wanted to let you know that your chances are pretty good.
depends on which college you are applying to: CAS, SEAS, or WHARTON
but your awards and extracirricular make up for you lower SATs
first generation college student is pretty big
and u penn's things they consider most important are:

letters of rec
secondary school report (GC)
essays
personality traits/characteristic

sooo those will outshine any other uncertainties

i got into WHARTON with a 2100 expect my scores werent as spread out. but i was surprised... still i had a great essay and recs and the INTERVIEW WILL HELP ALOT to show your personality. THEY WANT TO SEE THAT YOU ARE A NORMAL PERSON!

so gluck with everything did you get an interview?

I'm applying CAS (poli sci babyyy)

I'm really hoping for an interview. I havent heard yet though. Apparently they schedule 'em in Jan and Fed for RD kids.

anyways YOU BETTER GET AN INTERVIEW
i think thats one of the biggest things that saved me!!!
be normal lol
and CAS shouldnt be too difficult with your stats
but you never know its all a game
just nail your interview
its very casual which is cool
but again... be yourself

ECs are nice and you seem to be a cool person, so I'm sure that will show through in your essays and (if possible) interview.

That said, admission to CAS is still highly competitive in the RD round. If the volume of apps is anything like that of the ED round, the RD admissions rate could be as low as 14%. Your stats (average SATs, low SAT IIs, one 3/no 5s on your APs, and a very low class rank for Penn) will definitely hurt you.

I really couldn't give you an honest evaluation of your chances--it seems very borderline and hinging on great recs/essays and some show of improvement by the midyear report.

As you know, you probably should have applied ED--I'd say you would've had a great shot then. But RD is much harder.

RD acceptence is around 16% but you have a good shot..gl

You guys seemed to have pretty good interviews. I thought my interview went well, however it was only fifteen mintues. When I had my interview with MIT, it was over an hour and more thorough, and I looked back on my Penn interview and thought to myself, "that didn't go well." The Penn interviews are meant to be more informational than evaluative.

i didnt even get an interview, how did you guys all get contacted? lol were you supposed to call?

actually interviews don't matter at all. it's just a way for you to ask questions. the interviews are randomly assigned. i didn't get an interview and i still got in...

yea interviews really don't matter too much...you have to do pretty bad for it to hurt you...they can help..but only a little bit...i feel like if you had a good appliction to begin with, the interview would boost it a little bit more towards accept...but the key word is little

good chances. you're the real deal, baby! (dick vitale voice)

haha 26e, what made you bring this to the surface?!

i saw it on page 11, or something, so why not?

your rank and SATI isnt too outrageous, though the writing score is nice

cant take your word on your essays, but from your ECs it doesnt look like you were passionate about things long term.
like its just a bunch of ECs from here and there, nothing with longevity

thats just me

I'm passionate about my job :)
