Ohio State Class of 2027 Official Thread

Hi, my son was also accepted in EA but we have not heard anything about merit scholarships yet either. We thought he would be a candidate for the national Buckeye award for OOS based on his stats. He has already recd merit awards from other schools.

When are decisions supposed to come out?

Supposedly March 24 is the next decision date.

from the “How and when do I get my admission decision?” drop down at After you apply - Columbus campus freshmen - The Ohio State University

Hi, I would love to hear your thoughts on Scholars program and how your son/daughter is approaching it in terms of the residence hall location etc.

What time are decisions suppose to release?

Also, is there a separate round of decisions for fisher school of business? Is there a different timeline until when they release decisions?

Initially deferred, rejected today. 1420 SAT 3.5 GPA. Older sibling goes there so we thought that might help but I guess not.

Waitlisted. Can someone tell me when I am supposed to receive the email?

Son, OOS (CA), initially deferred then denied, 3.85 GPA, 5 APs, good ECs, no test scores, applied to Architecture, City and Regional Planning. Has other options he is very happy with.

Applied EA. Deferred in first round. Denied today. No email or nothing. Just happened to check the portal. She’s already committed elsewhere but a little disappointed.

Wishing everyone’s student the best wherever they end up!

Deferred then rejected. Pharmacy
OOS 4.0
7 AP
Band, swim team, community stuff etc.
disappointed but has good options.

Does anyone know how hard it is to get into clubs / research etc at OSU ? Thanks

Not hard. Lots of opportunities, but students do put a lot of hard work into these activities.

Congratulations to all incoming Buckeyes! I am here to get some advice on scholars program. We are in a bind because the program our child got into appears like a good opportunity but is housed in a not so good/desired residence hall. Should we focus on the benefits of the program (i.e. smaller community within a large school etc) or focus on housing? Are there other parents in a similar situation? Would you please share your thoughts and feedback?

In the end, this is your child’s decision, but since you are asking for opinions, I will give mine. The most important factor is the people who end up surrounding your child in the dorm. In Scholars, there is some control / filtering of that. Otherwise, it is random. The rest of issues are far less important. Freshmen classes are all over, so location, North, South, West, is not particularly important. If no ac, it is only hot for a few weeks and tends to promote positive bonding. Community bathrooms can be bad, but it is survivable. The people around your child is 95% of how good of a time your child will have. The rest is a rounding error.
