For those of you attending or are knowledgeable about this school, how does the Chemical Engineering or just Engineering College, in general, rank among other nationally ranked universities?

Are the professors approachable at a school that has approximately 40,000 students? How large are lower-level classes? When do they become smaller, if at all?

Are there abundant opportunities for undergraduate research and co-ops and study abroad programs?

I can at least tell you the College of Engineering as a whole is reputable. It doesn’t have the clout of, say, Michigan, but it shouldn’t leave you wanting for job opportunities. That is about as helpful as I can be on this topic, however.

I have a bunch of coworkers from OSU and other than the occasional athletic bragging issues they’re a very good school. 8-| In our Big-10 heavy workplace they are well regarded.

Second-year ChemE here! This school is amazing, and I would recommend the FEH program if you can do it. All of my professors have been approachable, especially the ones who teach the FEH courses. Our current building, Koffolt, is going to be moved into a new building beginning Spring 2015, so that’s definitely something to look forward to.

Right now I’m in the first major course, 2200, and it basically makes ochem look like a joke. I have a very good professor, but the exams are ridiculous.

The only ‘bad’ professor I’ve really had was my neuroscience professor, which was back when I tried to minor in the subject. Assuming you’re just doing ChemE, you should be basically golden.
