Not true. Stats are important to others waiting
Yes. My son was TO
Did anyone receive an email stating their decision was posted? My S despises this site, so I’d rather not tell them to check their portal because “I read it on CC,” lol.
Thank you for posting this- I remember my daughter getting in in late November 2019 very early in the morning (before school) but comments here are all about December evening results. I’m happy someone else remembers a more rolling admissions cycle a few years ago…
Haha - that’s exactly what I did. My D23 hates continually checking portals, so I just send her a message that says “hey, maybe check now. I see lots of posts on CC”
Worked last night
Will OSU continue releasing decisions over weekend? I haven’t seen any school of engineers accepted or posted.
I saw several people accepted to Engineering in the reddit thread
As a long-time CC reader, I am on my third kid. I have used the separate threads to better understand when decisions are reached and what type of candidate is accepted at each school. It is a very useful accumulation of data points. I strongly encourage people to post stats for those who use the CC threads as guidance on chancing and better understanding the process. All the while knowing those who post on CC are likely a subset of the strongest candidates.
I agree with you that most parents/students who post on CC are high stats kids. It’s definitely something to keep in mind. Also, you don’t see many denials posted here, and that may be due to those same high stats kids getting accepted, or it could be that people get denied and are embarrassed or too upset to post about it. I have a freshman daughter at UT Austin and my son has been accepted to 5 out of the 13 schools he applied to (including OSU) so far. He was denied from U of Georgia, which we expected, since it was a “lottery” type reach school for him. Both of my kids are great students and have done very well (but not perfect/highest stats) in school. However, they both also had a great well-rounded resume to show that they were involved in sports, clubs, volunteering, leadership, working, etc. I do honestly think having done this two years in a row now, that many schools look for a lot more than just high scores and GPAs. Wishing all of you and your kiddos good luck and great success! I believe they all end up on the right path somehow, even if it’s not the path we had imagined for them. I never expected my daughter to get into the school she’s in because it’s so difficult to do from OOS, but I believe it was meant to be. It seemed her path was laid out for her. Take all of the posts/stats with a grain of salt and know that if your kids are more like mine, they still have a good shot!
They hate that I’m on here too! Feeds too much into anxiety. This is my 2nd student to go through admissions. My S doesn’t want to feel the anxiety of it all like my first did…they don’t even know I am on this! (I’m the silent helicopter…)
It does beg the question, why doesn’t the school notify students decisions are posted?
does anyone have the updated OSU chart (posted earlier) of how many were accepted to what college during the first wave?
Son accepted last night
OOS- Massachusetts
SAT- 1420
GPA- 3.8
Major- Biology
I’m sorry for your daughter. A lot of this is luck, with so many applications it becomes less about her than you think. Rejection hurts, but she is clearly a greaat student and will have a lot of choices. I am sure she will choose somewhere amazing.
Does anyone know if the decisions will continue over the weekend or not until January?
Kid accepted last night. In state, 1510, 4.0 uw, math major, high level music ec.
According to the OSU website, EA decisions were released yesterday and the rest will be released on Jan. 20. I wouldn’t expect anything over the weekend.
Did anyone hear back for Heath and Rehabilitation Science? My D is still waiting.
Totally agree. But I think many would agree that the application process in general is broken - so why should notifications be any different . This is my third going through this process and it’s just as awful and anxiety provoking (three totally different kids/students with three totally different majors). None of my kids ever got on to CC, but they appreciated the info I would/do feed them. And I like seeing the stats of those accepted/denied
I’ve removed son’s stats that were posted two minutes before request.
