Thanks for the information! This is helpful.
Thanks for the housing question as my dd is also waiting on 1/20 decision.
Is there a fine arts requirement?
For high school? I’m pretty sure you can find all reqs for high school on osus website, but it depends on the major in college
My son received an email saying he has been admitted to the university honors program. We looked online and it looks like there’s some priority registration benefits but the requirement of more rigorous courses. Wondering if it’s worth it or if it’s more pressure and work just to say he’s in honors ? Last thing i want is for him to feel like he has to take the most rigorous courses like he did in high school. I think college is about finding what you love. Any advice?
Same for my daughter. Also hoping for some insights.
Got honors invitation yesterday.
Freshmen schedule at orientation, so schedule that in the earliest session you can. If you are in honors you will get an earlier window in the fall to schedule spring semester classes.
There isn’t anyone hounding students to complete honors. Students that don’t sign an honors contract laying out their plan to complete an honors degree are automatically dropped from the program. So there isn’t any reason not to be in honors until that happens. If you are interested in pursuing honors the website has a lot of information about it. Programs vary by college.
For the College of Engineering the Fundamentals of Engineering Honors (FEH) series covers an additional introductory programming class within it. So it isn’t necessarily more work, just differently paced/more integrated. Students in FEH will take 2 classes, while students in FE take 3 (two FE classes and a CS class) to fulfill degree requirements. Engineering classes and the scheduling to complete the curriculum in 8 semesters in general is a lot of work. You don’t have to take the FEH series to earn an honors degree, they do offer other pathways.
OSU has holistic review. If your high school doesn’t require or offer fine arts that is taken into account.
my daughter applied for Scholars, not Honors. Have any of those decisions come out or does that take longer? How were people notified of Honors- du=id you get an email?
Does anyone know when we can sign up for one of the 4 admitted student days?
Quick question we are waiting on the 1/20 EA decision… do they do a complete dump on decisions at a specific time or do they trickle them out throughout the day ? Hoping for some good news for my son
I got mine in December and I think it came all at once because the portal crashed due to too many people logging in.
my son got his in Dec. we were waiting for our decision with friends who had kids also waiting in different cities. They didnt come out all at once. They came out over a couple hours and it seemed like it was rejections early on and then the acceptances - at least in our experience. The friend’s son who was rejected was at 5:30 and my son and his friends who were accepted were between 6:30-7:30. Decisions continued to come for hours . You can scroll back to Dec 9 on this thread to see it in real time.
Good luck to all of our kiddos who are still waiting for news! We are OOS and my first two kids were accepted in the first round of early action, I cant help but feel that not getting the first round was bad news. We were told by admissions that the rollout is random but not sure If I believe that?
@buckeyemom17 If it helps we are local and it really did seem like half the kids we know heard in Dec and half did not (including my dtr). Even some really high stats kids we know are waiting so hopefully it is random
SO hoping that is the case! Good luck to your daughter!
We are OOS - my kid heard she was admitted months ago. Her friend is still waiting. I’m assuming it was just luck who got notice early. Patience required. I have to remind myself NOT to ask for updates. I think it just adds to the angst.
when is the next wave for EA?
@nrpm3c it is tomorrow 1/20
