I applied to osu as an engineering major, I have heard osu admissions is blind to major. So say I was accepted into Ohio state but not the college of engineering would they still give me acceptance into the university? Because at some schools I’ve seen if you don’t get into major they reject you.
Yes my daughter received her invite to honors via email. OOS. Came maybe yesterday?
DD just got her letter in the mail with her merit award. Not sure if it is posted on her portal as well.

daughter got an email asking her to rank her Scholars Program preferences but it’s not a guarantee that she will get into Scholars.
makes me wish she had checked the Honors box instead…

DD got a merit award letter today for the Maximus and National Buckeye! Still keeping fingers crossed for an invite for one of the bigger scholarships but this definitely helps!

According to the NPC my daughter qualifies for the maximus award but it was not included in her merit letter. Does you DD’s HS report rank? What are her stats? Wondering if I should have my DD reach out to her AO about it.

My son was accepted in December to OSU but he got a letter that his acceptance is to a pre-major. He wants to do CS. Does anyone know what’s the application process to get into CS major?
Received the same letter yesterday. I believe once in school they apply<?> or are accepted into CS based on grades.

Students in the College of CS and Engineering apply to their desired major after they complete the required courses. For most students they apply during the spring semester of their freshman year.

My son is among the lucky applicants waiting to hear on Early Action decisions on Jan 20. If it goes as we hope and he is accepted, how is freshman housing impacted? The website says essentially “first with signed contraxts, first assinged.” This makes me think he may already be a bit behind the folks accepted on Dec 9. Is housing already accepting contracts? Is that correct? I assume it all washes out in the end, but am curious on others experiences and what to expect. Thanks!

It’s been a few years, but from experience with a Senior at OSU about to graduate…we didn’t commit/ put a depost down at OSU until February/March and it was a non issue. He ended up in a quad, but a lot of freshmen do, plus he was on North campus which was the most important to him. He also met some of his best friends in that dorm. It all works out in the end. You are required to live on campus for 2 years, so 1st and 2nd years get priority…
