Ohio State University vs. Accelerated Medical Schools - Please Help!

Alright, so I have a quick question, and it has been haunting me. I live in Ohio, so I'm guaranteed admission to Ohio State University, one of the branches atleast.

But after my undergraduate, I (hopefully) plan on going off to med school. So my question is, I want to go to OSU, 1. A degree from OSU is highly recognized across the country, 2. Campus life is absolutely amazing, 3. I've wanted to go to OSU for years.

There are other schools with accelerated medical programs, with direct entry to their med school. You cut your education time in half.

I just need some help trying to figure out which to go to. I will be applying to OSU early admission, and then the accelerated schools soon after. I would just like some input on this, anything you guys tell me is advice I'll consider. I'm torn between this.

Thanks for anything!

So if I understand you correctly, the choice is between an unnamed accelerated med school and OSU, is that right?

I’m not much of a fan of AMSs because most pre-meds will go off to do something else with their lives. I know there are advantages to programs in which you can enroll as an u/g and after four years have almost auto admission to the u/g school’s med school, and I like these better.

If you have any doubts about the AMS, don’t do it. It is perfectly acceptable to mature at the same rates as everyone else. Some things take a while to learn and learn well. Everybody’s looking for a shortcut in this country, but education takes time and pain and money. Give yourself some time to grow as a student and adult.
