Let me breifly address your Maryland Cons

-Buildings are on the older side

Of course many are, but there are also many new buildings. Maryland is constantly investing in building state of the art facilities across the campus. You said you are interested in business…have you seen the Smith School of Business building? Have you seen the Eppley Rec Center? What about the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center? And the Kim engineering building? I could go on and on and on… I can guarantee you didn’t see half of what the campus has to offer when you went on an “official” tour…I’m an alum and I haven’t even seen half of the improvements since my day!

-Sports haven’t been too good lately

So, does that mean they won’t ever be? Trust me that school spirit hasn’t suffered for it. We are moving to the Big 10 and there is going to be a lot of excitement as new rivalries are formed. Didn’t you hear about how Maryland spanked Duke?

And in football, have you seen Stefon Diggs play? OMG he is amazing!!! We had bad luck with injuries of a lot of players, but even despite that, he made the games exciting.

-It will be harder for me to transfer into Smith than for me to transfer into Fisher

Ok, but aren’t you up for the challenge? If you want to succeed in business, you have to prove yourself against competitors all the time. This is no different. No pain, no gain. Between the Dingman Center, Hinman CEOs, and so many more great programs, it is worth fighting for. The opportunities are countless.

-The dorms when i visited kinda well sucked…(note: I haven’t seen OSU dorms yet)

Yup, for freshman, they absolutely do! But hey, that’s part of the experience…war stories to tell your children. However, you don’t stay in concrete prisons the whole time - just the first year. Many dorms (for upperclassmen) are actually pretty nice and there are opportunities for semi-suites, suites and apartment style living.

Gee, if these are your only cons…that’s pretty good. Did you see these articles?

I could go on and on about Maryland. Go to Maryland Day on April 27th. Trust me, seeing all the Maryland has to offer will blow you away and make you wonder why you even considered going elsewhere…

Also, be sure not to underestimate the value of being IS…having the option to go home without a huge expense is nothing to sneeze at…
