Ohio State Vs. Purdue (Engineering)

I'm about to end my junior year (one final left today) so I'm started to seriously consider colleges and my future. At the moment I'm interested in Aerospace Engineering but Agricultural and Bioengineering (not biomedical) look interesting too. I'm also maybe thinking about business. I have two colleges that are at the top of my list: Ohio State and Purdue (Purdue is #1 on my list). Being an Ohio resident, OSU is about a little less than half the cost of Purdue. Can anyone tell me a little about how the engineering programs are at both and how they compare? Also, just about the college life at both as a whole (sports, clubs, social life, etc.)? And lastly, how good is Purdue's financial aid, or will I have to decide against it just because of the price tag?

OOS publics don’t give their financial aid to OOS students (UVa and UNC-CH are the exceptions). OOS publics charge OOS rates for a reason. It wouldn’t make sense for them to cover up the extra charge with financial aid.

However, some OOS publics will give some merit scholarships to students with very high stats. Purdue gives some merit scholarships, but typically not enough to make the cost similar to OSU. None of Purdue’s OOS merit scholarships are assured. They’re all competitive (limited in number and given to a chosen group).

What are your stats? There might be other OOS publics that would give you more merit to make them more affordable.

Well, I don’t have my SAT or ACT results yet so that makes things harder to judge at the moment. As for everything else umm… I have about a 3.4 on a 4 scale. Took AP US History this year. Plan to take AP Calc and AP Stats next year. Usually take honors math and science classes. Doing sports all four years. Don’t have a ton in terms of volunteering so I’m worried that might hurt me a bit. Can’t really think of what else to say.
