OK... I'm so confused!!!

I’m planning to apply to BS/DO and BS/MD programs, but I have no idea which ones are the least selective (I’m not looking for one EASY to get in: they don’t exist). My stats are far from superior on CC standards, but hey, it’s ok to have dreams:

Question 1: what BA/MD am I most eligible to go (which ones are reasonable dreams)?

Question 2: I’ve done my own search, and I wondered how likely I am to get in the following (BS/DO) programs:

Gannon University in Erie, PA agreement with PCOM

Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL agreement with NSU-COM

Utica College in New York with agreement with LECOM

Thanks so much for reading!! I’m eagerly awaiting your advice/assessment!! :)

You have good chance at lot of places.hpme, uic(if instate)psu—

I’m going to sound like a wet blanket, but based on the schools you’re looking at why not just go to college and apply to medical school separately. As a person applying to medical school after college I can’t possibly understand why you would think that it would be a good idea to want to do those particular programs. It looks like all of those programs are bottom 20% of medical schools. Given that, even if you got in and went to one of them, you would have an exceedingly difficult time getting a good residency from such a low ranked school. Also it’s been found that many students in guaranteed med programs struggle their first few years in medical school because they didn’t have to work as hard in college and weren’t used to the workload.

I don’t know where I want to go to residency, so I’ll be concerned only once I get into (and only in that case) a med school.

I know those programs aren’t prestigious, but most premeds who are fortunate enough to go med school don’t end up in top tier med schools anyway.

But thanks for your suggestion. I’ll definitely look up some more “prestigious” programs. And I’m a natural hard-working asian, lol. It’s not like I’ll lose my nerdiness or work ethic  I usually study for the pleasure of studying (I know, it’s rare but notice my username)

Does anyone has more suggestions on less competitive BA/MD’s I have a decent shot at?

apply everywhere you’d want to go!
you have good stats and whatever weaknesses you have should not be too big of a deal, I’d say you have a chance at any program you choose

Really?? with top 15-20% class rank… I wish you are correct. But I’m still kinda skeptical.

Who cares if it’s a longshot if you get in? ALL of these programs are longshots because they’re so small and it’s such a huge commitment. You never know until you try, so why not go for it?

I mean it’s all relative, like saying it’s easier to get into Cornell than Harvard? I’m just trying to find the ‘longshots’ that are actually reasonable. I’m sure there are significant differences in selectivity among different BA/MD’s (maybe 2% acceptance rate versus 15% acceptance rate)

That kind of difference would be very important for a borderline applicant like me. And I’m also open to BS/DO, so that’s why I asked for the less selective programs where I have a reasonable chance. I’m especially clueless because only some top programs like Rice Baylor publish their acceptance rate (lol, it’s like 20/1600  haha, that doesn’t help me much, cos I have so little chance at those programs already.

^its more like 14 lol.

buy this book
