Okay to pay the coffee bill in a meating with an addmission officer??

I know this is probablly the weirdest question you've ever heared but please I need help.

So Iam having a meeting with an admission officer from my first choice college and it is going to be over breakfast or probablly for just a cup of coffee.
The admission officer is a female , and Iam a male . For this reason I feel I should pay the bill , but Iam really worried that she will think that iam trying to " PAY " her so that she helps me in my college app - Which is not the case ofcourse -

What do you think I should do ??

Usually whoever gets there first goes ahead and gets their beverage so essentially it is Dutch treat-pay for yourself and so will the other person.
Don’t eat, just sip and chat.

I am an alumni interviewer. Who pays has absolutely no effect on what I write, and you certainly are not obligated to pay for her. In fact, I usually pay for my interviewees coffees, but if they’ve arrived before me and already ordered, that’s fine too. I’d vote for either letting her pay for both or going Dutch. Good luck.

Alright thanx all , I really appreciate your help.
I think i’ll just go for Dutch.
Thanx again (:

The alumni interview instructions I’ve received as an interviewer say that it is against the rules for the interviewee to buy anything for the interviewer, although it is OK if the interviewer wants to buy the interviewer a cup of coffee.

I’ve had students offer to pay, and I politely decline, but it doesn’t in any way affect my opinion of the student.

I would suggest to just follow the interviewer’s lead.

I only had one interview in a coffee shop (most were at the admissions office or the alum’s place of work), but my interviewer paid for my drink.

What if you absolutely hate coffee?

Coffee shops sell tea, juice, bottle water.
If you are going to occupy a table, it is polite to purchase something.

Haha okay… Better hope they have good fruity drinks at Starbucks

The protocol in situations such as this is very clear. The interviewer pays. Don’t even offer to do so. And it doesn’t matter if the interviewer is male or female.

If for some reason the interviewer doesn’t offer to pay, or doesn’t order anything, follow the interviewer’s lead and order nothing.
