Oklahoma State & U Maine Orono for Engineering

Anybody have favorable or less so experiences with either,
U Maine Orono or Oklahoma State?

Admitted to
Honors Programs &
Engineering (accepted as Chemical but in reality undecided)

D22 NMSF has narrowed her list to these two VERY different campus environments.

She’s somewhat introverted but also quite active:
Enjoys nature/Eagle Scout
Super STEMgirl/ Loves Chem, Physics, Engineering but pretty undecided and confused as to what she wants her future to look like. (space industry? sustainable energy?)
Very creative and needs an artistic outlet of some kind. Hopes to be able to balance challenging STEM courses with visual art electives and/or music classes
(amateur guitar and violinist)
Smaller campus appeals but doesn’t want to overly sacrifice quality of programs.
Not a party girl.

Hopeful thanks in advance for any inside experiences you can share!

I’m from OK, went to OSU, and will say that the school and surrounding area is conservative if that matters at all.

I went ages ago, but all the engineering students I knew worked very hard. So it must not have been easy.

I would consider it a party school, ironic I know, but with so many students, there would be people who she would fit in with.

S was accepted for civil e at UMaine and in honors. The honors program (as we understood it) is all humanities based classes. That was a no go for my kid, even though he has talent in that area. Nice campus, nice kids, nice area. Engineering facilities blew us away. Nicest and most impressive of all the campuses we visited. Solid reputation.
