I have narrowed my choices down to the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State and the Walton School of Business at University of Arkansas, but I don't know which one to pick. Which school would be the best for my future? Which has the better business school? I am most likely going to pursue a Business Management degree, and will seek to be involved in Greek life.

Nobody in my family went to college so I have no advice in this decision, so I need real help here.

University of Arkansas makes top 50. I think it’s Oklahoma U that is not far behind. You can look it up in the US New rankings. If it’s OK State that right there, than the two school are about equal in the US News rankings, but then if you are going into certain specialties, the rankings for some schools start to shift as some have “boutique” programs that others don’t. So look at the various rankings and where the two schools tend to fall. If they are with the same grouping, be aware that the incremental difference is not significant at all, #40 and #50 can change spots in a year very easily.

My first comment would be about your choice of major…I teach at a college of business…this is what the data tells me from our career services office and others that I have looked at…

Management is generally the worst major in a college of business in terms of immediate employment prospects. They also tend to have the lowest starting salaries.

MIS and accounting generally have the best job prospects and a pretty high average starting salary.

Finance also has good job opportunities but the salaries have a wide variation depending on the type of position you get.

Marketing…Decent job prspects although experience is a must. Salaries not as high as MIS,Finance, or Acct.

As far as the schools, I think Arkansas has a slightly better reputation in business judging by Business Week and US news rankings. OSU has a really solid accounting program.

Where do you want to work? All things equal, I think Arkansas is stronger.
