The universities (National universities V LAcs) link
does not seem to work either.

Maybe someone else has a better link?

This book summarizes rankings done back to the early 1900’s–but you have to buy it or get it in the library

You probably won’t find rankings per se, but the old college guides- Barron’s and Cass & Birnbaum- had pages where they placed the colleges in grouping “buckets”- like “Most selective”, “Highly Selective”. etc.

You can take the old books out of the library.

You’ll find they have entrance stat breakdowns that are more comprehensive than are currently available.

What happened to Berkeley and Michigan in 1989? They went from top 10 to barely in the top 25, and they haven’t cracked the top ten since.

Depends what rankings. They did fine in the NRC and SJTU rankings since then. US News looks more at the students than the school in the mistaken assumption that HS kids know anything about colleges.
