Hello! For a while now I have been looking at colleges and really worried because of (grades, future, etc.) and was wondering if being related to an old (deceased) president increase any chances at being able to be accepted into certain colleges? I am currently a junior in high school with a 3.67 weighted/unweighted GPA as a sophomore and a 3.167 unweighted and 3.5 weighted GPA as my first semester of junior was completely awful because of certain things. I do have the determination and readiness to get all A’s this semester for a 4.3 GPA but awfully worried. I have hopes in getting into any of the UC’s but primarily UCI, UCD and (UCLA) ← very unlikely. Anyways I hope you can help me, Have a good day :)!
UCs do not use legacy and presumably not anything resembling legacy in admissions.
really? well, I couldn’t find any information regarding it so its new information for me. Thank you for your help :)!
If you google your target college and “Common Data Set” you can find a “basis for selection” chart that shows whether alumni relation is part of selection process. For UCs it shows “not considered”.
Alright, thanks!
if your GPA winds up below 4.0. most of the UCs are going to be a stretch. UCR or UCM would be your best targets. I’d take a serious look at several of the Cal States - If you do reasonably well on the SAT, SDSU, CSULB would be two to look at.
good luck
If you are applying as a computer science, engineering or biology major for the UC’s, take into account that these majors are more impacted and difficult to get into and therefore to get in, you will need to be above the average admit stats for that particular UC.
