Older Student, Homeschooled for high school, now in Community College wanting to Transfer: SATs???

My daughter studied ballet her whole life and homeschooled since 8th grade. Starting in 9th grade she began online dual enrolled community college courses and has slowly been accumulating credits since then. At 21 and now dancing professionally, she would like to start college in a brick and mortar context for design. She is especially interested in Parsons or the New School. Although the SAT is optional for those who have completed more than 12 credits of college, which she has, they do require homeschoolers to submit SATs or Subject Tests, none of which she has taken. She has a GPA of 3.4 from her community college. Will she need to take these SATs? She is certainly not prepared for them now, especially the math test, as it’s been so long since she had math.

She needs to ask Parsons and the New School specifically about this. She is an older student who is entering with a bunch of college credits. They might not need the SATs in her case. I expect that that policy is designed for home-schoolers who are doing all of their stuff at home rather than in college classrooms.

Another option that she might want to consider, is finishing off her AA or AS degree through her community college and then applying elsewhere as a transfer. The CC counselors should be able to help her through that process. If the CC has a campus somewhere, she could take live classes while finishing the AA/AS degree.
