I was homeschooldd for 11th and 12th grade. I used a program where you actually have real teachers and classmates online. But they never told me about the SAT or ACT... so I never took them. I started off at my community college after I graduated and I'm currently in my third semester. however I want to transfer next fall but don't know who will take me. a lot of my credits are not transferable because they're courses like music theory and voice lessons and ear training. I no longer want to be a music major because I can't afford any of the schools that have my ideal major so I need to change my major to something else. I have maybe 15 transferable credits depending on the school but I don't have my SAT scores. what can I do??

not a problem, just apply to schools that don’t require them for trasnfers!

Some of your music classes may be transferable as electives or general education requirements. Most colleges have “transfer equivalencies” pages on line that will tell you what classes they will accept from your CC. Many CC’s also have programs that prepare students for transfer to a 4 year college, and staff members to advise them.
Many colleges have general education requirements for all majors. They are usually one or two semesters of English, and classes from different areas of studies: math, science, history, and in most cases they can be fulfilled at a CC. Some colleges require the SAT for transfers and some do not.
Do you have to give up your major? Many state colleges have music programs, and while they may not be your dream schools, many have talented faculty under whom you could continue to develop your skills and ensembles. However, many of these colleges also have general ed requirements for all majors. Since cost is a consideration, you may be able to save on costs if you complete the general ed requirements and major prerequisites at your CC before transfering. Also, a college may not have your ideal major, but you can craft your course with interdisciplinary studies- take classes in subjects that would build the skills you wish: Music major + business classes, poetry and creative writing+ marketing, and so on.
I would think your CC has a transfer program. I would consult the advisor for that program and plan out your course of study and transfer plans with the affordable options you have.

Community college doesn’t need sat to transfer

Fahaoo: Yes, many colleges still require SATs even if you are a transfer student. Some colleges do not require them as long as you have a certain amount of transferrable credit OR credit hours.
