Indeed, of all the flagship colleges we have visited, we have found Ole Miss the most appealing. The campus has the feel of a liberal-arts college. Its Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College offers as fine an education as one might find at Carleton or Kenyon Colleges.

The other major universities featured in the article are Notre Dame, MIT, Arizona State, and Colorado. Pretty good company.

S is off to Ole Miss next week. Wasn’t even on our radar last year. Just got the bill for 1st semester tuition OOS: $10,400. Not chump change but a great deal for an OOS student who isn’t sure of a major yet!

I assure you, the words “college” and “Mississippi” were never in the same sentence for us before last year. Ole Miss was the last place on Earth we thought our son would end up. It’s a hidden gem. Good luck in your son’s first year! (It’s my son’s, too, but he spent the Summer there as well.)

Glad your son is enjoying it, m-s.

Same with us…it was the northeast all the way for him. He’s pretty excited about moving in on Friday.
