WashU, much higher in ranking than U mich, is a prestigious school that there is no way it can be compared with U mich. However, I found that Ross school of U mich is higher in undergrad business program ranking than Olin school of WashU. Plus, Ross has the advantage in that the students have internship opportunity in Chicago while WashU is in the middle of nowhere in respect to internship chances. Also I heard the rumor that the recruitors(morgan stanley, etc.) do not visit WashU at all. Accordingly, I am starting to doubt the competitiveness of Olin school.

Please give me advice in choosing between the two.

St. Louis is by no means the middle of nowhere in terms of internship opportunities. St. Louis and Ann Arbor (300 mi vs. 250 mi) are virtually the same distance away from Chicago. Also, 19 Fortune 1000 companies are headquartered in the St. Louis area.

The rumor about no one hiring at wash u is very false. The undergrad program just rose in rankings this year and the rating for career services went up. StudentLife (the student newspaper) had an article about it today… You should read it.

Also, the business school website posts an annual career/internship/salary/etc report each year. You’ll see that the east coast is the most common area for kids to work from wash u (including DC and Philly in east coast) with Midwest as 2nd (and Chicago being more popular than STL from personal anecdotal evidence).
I have many friends who are seniors with job offers at investment banks and consulting firms. Consulting seems really popular here… 4 friends I have, 2 each will be working at Deloitte and Bain, which are really good companies. In terms of percentages finance firms are the most popular destination for students. Check out the report yourself and draw your own conclusions: http://www.olin.wustl.edu/docs/WCC/EmploymentBSBA.pdf

another thing I know our business school publicizes a lot is the amount of majors available (8 or 9) and small class sizes for a business school. The Investment Praxis is a really awesome class, and I’m sure you can ask any wash u b-schooler for more information about that.

By and large though, the things that will differentiate wash u from michigan are really big picture things… Public/private, large/medium campus, city/college town, flexibilty to do things outside the business school, etc. They really couldn’t be more different than night and day. I did some research on Ross’s website to better answer your question and wash u and Ross are so different! The only similarity is in the core you take (couple accounting, finance, marketing, etc, courses). For MBA i think Ross probably has a better propostition, but Wash U business undergrad might have the edge depending on what variables are most important to you. Especially since wash u business undergrad is ranked 1 in the country for MBA feeder school (amount of people who get an MBA from a top school) so you’d probably have a great chance if going to Ross MBA later. For what it’s worth, Wash U also has the highest average SAT score among all undergrad business schools and i think that says something for the quality of your peers.

My friends in the business school love it for so many reasons. I think you need to create an excel spreadsheet to compare the two schools on certain variables and also visit wash u so you can see it and learn more first hand.
