How to stop procrastinating: Stop procrastinating. Just stop. It sounds obvious, but it's the first step.

And, until you get your grades up, quit (or temporarily stop) your job. You're not doing impressing anyone, especially MIT, by starting a company and having failing grades.

.-_-.

EDIT: Besides, you don't have a challenging schedule. I'm sorry if you didn't get into all the APs you wanted, but that's in the past now. If you can't pass normal classes, well, I don't know how to respond to that.

Im trying to operate and start a bussiness that will run the geek squad out of my town due to low prices. Im trying to make over 100 thousand dollars a year. I could not take any harder classes as they were full and Im in 1 club and creating two new ones (need 3 more members for each) . I need a 4.0 (all a's) and I took self study geometry online with BYU over the summer. My schedule is as rigorus at it can be. Also im tutoring a kid in a+ as i mentoned and self studying for CCNA and Network + (passed A+ already) all of which are for adults (usually during or after college) . So im working as hard as im technically allowed lol.

As i mentioned.

World history cp - Euro ap and world history h are full
Algebra 2 cp - cant take honors due to self study
PE - suck at sports
Bio - Bio h only for freshman and bio ap only for seniors
English academy- could take honors (highest) but the academy classes are focused on careers and college and in between cp and h
Theater - My UC approved art (in case i decide on UCB)
Spanish 2 - We only offer cp language until junior where you can take composiition

Snoopyiscool

Again im not going to quit im going to work harder. Also your procrastination advie sucks. I have a serious problem, ive been told i have adult add (cant concentrate but not hyper at all) , and so i really cant pay attention to hw.

Are you on medication for your "Adult ADD", you really need to go on medication for that.

What your posting has shown me is a bit of what one would call lack of focus. That is something which could be remedied by obtaining a bit of help for your "Adult ADD."

Do you have a schedule you adhere to with all of these things you do? I think that you need to really start organising things now. It flipped me out to read that a younger person could study A+ and all of that and still earn a bad mark in math. That right there shows me that you really need to sit down and start doing some good schedule keeping.

Can you maybe think of speaking to your guidance counselor about some of these things? I honestly think that you need to really try and seek guidance from a caring and nice adult in the form of a guidance counselor or the Doctor who diagnosed you with "Adult ADD", because you need some guidance.

Analyze what you're doing. If you're "very smart, usually," why do you think you have been doing so poorly this semester? Is something happening in your life to distract you? Are you taking on too much? It's okay, and it's GOOD, to have priorities and limit yourself to realistic goals.

I honestly think you should not be worrying about the PSAT right now. Test scores are definitely NOT the most important factor in college admissions. A test is just one day, a couple of hours. It doesn't show who YOU are. Colleges ask for essays and personal statements because they want to know who you are - what you love, how you feel, what you enjoy, whether you have drive, whether you're sincere. Right now, you sound like a frantic person who is not control of his life (are you a male?). I definitely advise you to rethink your priorities. Don't freak out about trying to do a bunch of things and bulk up your resume and cater to one school. Do your best, find something you love, and excel in it. I did not apply for MIT, but I can vouch for Harvard; I didn't do any crazy things like volunteer for a health clinic in Africa or do cutting-edge cancer research or found an internet company. I was passionate about marching band and tutoring and committed myself to those. I learned a lot of life lessons from those activities. I figured out what was important to me, and focused on that. If a college didn't want me, then I don't want them. You need to do what's best for you.

dont worry im screwed too and im in my junior year which is a jillion times worse b/c im messing up at the wrong time
theres still 3/4 of the semester left.
just study ur butt off, no slacking, pay attention in class (if possible lol), do the hw and ull be fine
ignore the people putting u down. its stressful yes but just keep ur head up

No im not being treated for my "adult add" as my mother feels its unnecesseray (she is dead wrong lol) . So i will have to just work through it as i always have.

Again i have stopped studying for psats and junk i dont NEED or ENJOY.
Celestial i am a guy. Why ?

Yeah, I mean no disrespect to your mother, but she is totally wrong. You need to see if the guidance counselor or someone will speak with her. I seriously mean no offense or anything, but come one? You have "Adult ADD" and need a little medicine as well as guidance with that, no shame in that. No different than my great uncle needing blood pressure medicine, you know what I mean?

I was just wondering if I was using the correct pronoun.

Firstly, I hope you will take my previous advice to heart.

Secondly, I agree with merlinjones; a guidance counselor, trusted teacher, principal, other close adult, or even a doctor may be a good person to talk to. Especially if you can eventually see a doctor, he or she can help reveal if there are biological problems truly hampering you, or if you just need to reevaluate your activities and acquire new study skills.

G-U-NOT
just ignore him ,he's nothing but haughty cocky person. if u think your fine and smart enough for MIT ,why u come here?u r here to seeking for advissse and peole who spent time on you and u didn't even respect them. u know what. someone says ur a nonmitmaterial is actually trying to help you. if u want people say anything to reassure u ,ok ,then dear mtf612: lol,it's ok to have like 2.0 gpa for MIT,ur fine right now ,just keep working and get a tutor. hmmm, the courses ur taking are definetly on the right track applying school like MIT. algebra 2 for a Sophmore ,i think it doesn't matter. even tho most of kids on this forum were taking AP cal in their soph year. but as long as you're a UNIQUE genius person. u'll finally get application from MIT.well good luck
is that what u want?
i'm not here saying u don't have a chance from MIT.but please go to the mirror and check your self.and do some research about this freaking school and comparing other people whos in the same pool with you.

I can't see why you're doing some ECs for mere the purpose of getting into MIT and letting grades drop while your grades will be way more important at the point.

the problem isn't that you're studying for SATs as a junior, but that you're actually studying for the SAT. it defeats the purpose of the test. if someone wanted you to memorize all of the questions, it wouldn't be a reasoning test. i realize the aim is to score as high as possible, but it's such a waste of time to study. it's almost pathetic, in my opinion. really, if you've had algebra II, can read critically, are able to pick up words from books, and do well in school, i don't see a reason why you shouldn't score well. really, everything you need is provided by your friendly, local school system. make the most of it.

wow, i didn't mean for all of that to come out. once i get started on the SAT...whooo!

and you're starting a company? in my opinion, you have bigger fish to fry...like getting good grades. i mean, that's an impressive undertaking, but don't you think awesome grades are more valuable? and, i'm sure that by foregoing your entreprenurial aspirations now, you won't be as stressed out, and that's always a good thing.

Let's see:
Would MIT want an applicant with straight As and moderate ECs, or one with an impressive list of ECs including starting their own company but also that has failing grades? Hmm, that's a toughie.

guys i have myself covered. kill the thread. im tarting the company and going to get a 4.0. No longer freaking out (except in spanish in math im worried i may get b's if i dont work my ass off) , but i should get a 4.0

you should quit half of those activities and focus on the most important stuff (ie grades). Prioritize. You cant pick all the eggs with one basket.

again im taking all the eggs in the basket i have to pick up the slack ill be fine. Im not worried. Right now its 2 am and just finishing makeup work. I am fine and will have a 4.0.

Stabs thread in the heart and cuts off the threads head. Kill the thread.
