I guess no international likely letters....

Non-Athletic Domestic Likelys received on CC so far this year:

[ul] ** [CC Total 7] Domestic & Non-Athletic Likelys **
[]2/03 [CC Sub-Total 2]Imanueli, VenusinFurs
[]2/28 [CC Sub-Total 5]Arwen15,Chronicidal,Heyyou, Locrasaur27,StupidKid
[/ul]

Sup, Thats 7, usually CC has a ~1:10 ratio with the real world?
I am guessing there are 3-5 on CC who have not posted yet.
Given Stanford already had 2 waves (2/03,2/28) there is every
likelihood there would be another wave prior to 3/31, maybe next week?
...I am just speculating here...

:)

I got my likely letter on February 3rd. It was mailed on the 1st, though.

No internationals? :( Sigh, thats sad

Here is an article that says something about number of likelys
issued by Stanford in the past:
.....This year, *[sic, class of '10] * there were 61 Super-star Academic Likelies and 60 Multicultural Likelies.

These 121 students were expected to be admitted to every competitive institution in the country.
Stanford tried to connect with them early to convince them of the
Universitys appeal as their best prospect...."
If stanford is keeping to the same numbers, there are probably 3-4 on CC
who have not posted yet?

*[CC Total 8] Domestic & Non-Athletic Likelys *
[ul]
[]2/03 [CC Sub-Total 3]DerailleurGears, Imanueli, VenusinFurs
[]2/28 [CC Sub-Total 5]Arwen15, Chronicidal,Heyyou, Locrasaur27, StupidKid
[/ul]

My friend got a multicultural one - he's like 1/8 native american.

honestly...i wouldn't even bother thinking about likelys. It'll just make me more anxious and nervous. The whole admission process is too human and random to be fair. All i can say is that I 've done what i could to the best of my ability. The rest is just luck, which surprisingly plays quite a big role... TT____TT...good luck to everyone, and don't take it too personal...this is like sat all over again "it's not a test of your intelligence....blah blah blah"...=)

good attitude rainycafe.

for those of us that received these early approvals and plan to visit the school, should we start looking at plane tickets for admit weekend?

wait until we get the official letters. I'm hoping for a travel grant.

how do we qualify for these grants? my family's income isn't particularly low, its around the 100k region =/

are they going to pay for everything like Duke does for Duke Close Up?

I have a travel voucher from Yale for Bulldog Days. Do you think that would influence Stanford to give me one? Our income also isnt particularly low...But these admit weekends are going to start getting super expensive.

Did any of you that got likelies recieve any additional correspondence from Stanford?

^additional correspondence: no. They didn't even reply to my email sent to their "special" address.

^^same here! I guess we'll just have to wait until april to get our admit weekend info and stuff (I'm booking flights on hte 24th and 27th, some of my friends got in through SCEA, and so told me the schedules)

Jeez, I wish I got one. I hope they still send some more out like Harvard is doing now.

i just got an early approval letter this past week. Are they doing them in rounds, or something?

They were also really bad with answering my questions quickly. I set them an email monday and got a response friday. Do you know if we have access to the admitted students site?

Did any of you guys get phone calls from stanford? I've never gotten one and I sure hope this isn't a mistake. =/

i definitely never got a phone call. I'm pretty sure this is for real - my letter had a note written in REAL ink (not a photocopy, for once) at the end.

Yea I know the letter is real, I just hope then didn't send someone elses to me by mistake. I had "Come to Stanford" written in ink if I recall correctly.
