Where do you live?

yessss.... congratulations!....i was accepted too!!!... i've never posted on here but have been following to see when people start to hear... i've been so anxious lately and when i got home from school today i found out i was accepted to grinnell and macalester... what a super surprise!! i can finally breathe... the envelope said 'congratulations' but my mom was just like, "don't get your hopes up, it's still early".... parents are silly... anyway congratulations to everyone accepted and good luck to everyone else!

ahh
lucky
how did you get accepted early??
is it because you are especially qualified or what?
(wondering for mac and grinnell)

i guess they were good match schools for me... i really wasn't expecting anything like this though... all the talk of schools getting record numbers of applications this year freaked me out... but i think i have developed somewhat of an inferiority complex... the whole application process is kind of sick that way... anyway i don't really like to throw around my test scores, gpa, stats and such.... but i guess i was very much qualified, that's what the letters said at least

ahh i know what you mean. im scared ****less im not gonna get accepted anywhere i really want to go to..

but i was just wondering if they have sent out all admissions/acceptance letters or if this is a early thing for people who are especially qualified... apparently it's the latter....anyways congratulations!!!

When did you guys send in your applications?

californian- I'm in Austin, Texas.

calz88- don't fret, I'm sure you will get in somewhere you like! Where all did you apply?

katacanay- congratulations on Grinnell and Macalester! Both in one day? I'd explode.

Grinnell does a likely letter...well, I suppose it's now morphed to an early acceptance letter! For the strongest applicants who they feel are best fit for the Grinnell.

I haven't heard about Macalester doing it, but yay, we learn something new each day! Same goes.. I suppose it's just like a "likely letter" some Dartmouth are getting!

Congratulations, guys!!

Ahhh, I just wish I could get an early letter from a school I'm expecting a reply on April 1st!

Congrats to all! Did they give you any info regarding financial aid or merit aid?

My daughter was thrilled to get an early acceptance letter from Macalester today. She is from Connecticut and spent an overnight in October. She is a National Merit Finalist, an AP Scholar with Distinction and high GPA which, I'm sure, had a lot to do with the early notification. She is breathing easier now!

californian-
Taken straight from the letter:
"I am equally pleased to inform you that you will receive a merit scholarship totaling XXXX over four years. Details regarding this scholarship will be included in your admissions packet. This award does not preclude additional scholarships for which you might be eligible, such as National Merit, nor does it preclude need-based assistance."

Thanks! Congrats again. Do you plan to go to Grinnell?

No prob, and thanks! Actually, my parents said I couldn't go visit until after I got accepted, so we're planning a trip up there soon! Even though I haven't stepped foot on campus, it's still one of my top choices. :) What about you?

Congrats.

Hopefully that representative who talked to me and said, "We're very excited about your application..." was hinting at something greater.

I live in a residential school.....so I only get to see my mail every 1-2 weeks.

uhhhhhhhhhh..........

My D applied and did an overnight visit last fall. She thought the classes/teaching were very good, facilities were great, but the food was horrid. She thought that, maybe, the new cafeteria (due to be complete soon) will correct the food problem.

She was a bit worried about its "college atmosphere" (evidence of drinking and such). Grinnell, however, is probably not worse than other LACs -- and might actually have LESS drinking!

acc_bound,
i applied to tons of schools... so far ive been accepted to kalamazoo (in michigan) and clark university with significant scholarships. still waiting to hear from grinnell, mac, oberlin, midd, haverford etc..getting anxious!

Drinking on a college campus-------------say WHAT!??!?

californian- yeah, i hear the food is wretched. that might actually be a good thing though, no freshman fifteen!

calz88- congrats on your acceptances! i almost applied to both kalamazoo and clark but decided that nine schools was enough. i applied to oberlin, too. apparently oberlin is giving out early notifications as well! its fairly nervewracking.

Yeah, my d said it might be a Freshman Negative Fifteen.
