After graduating from high school, I decided that I wanted to leave the States for a while, thus went on to an university somewhere in Asia and studied for about 2 years.
There, during my sophomore year, being an idiot, I got involved in a fight that led a 2 month suspension from the college. As soon as I received suspension, I dropped out of that school and came back to the States to attend a local community college.
When I signed up for the CC, I omitted the info that I attended college overseas, and nothing has been going wrong with that.
Now that I need to transfer to a 4-year institution, I am curious whether the university I plan to apply will ever know if I had attended a college overseas. I bet 4-year institutions are going to more hard-checking on my background compared to CCs. But, to be honest, I doubt the admissions office would ever know that I attended a college on the other side of the world, so, would it be okay to omit the fact of having attended a college overseas??
Would the university like, ever contact my school to check which college I was accepted to in my senior year?
Typically, schools find out where you might have attended earlier through the National Student Clearinghouse. This is mainly used for financial aid and the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).
There are a handful of international schools which report enrollment to the Clearinghouse. You may want to check if your prior institution is included:
I checked the National Student Clearinghouse amd it seems that the prior institution aint taking part in it. Would I then be safe? To be honest the only way I can think of universities finding out that fact is to contact my high school but would they be that enthusiastic for a single student?
