on academic patience

Has anyone ever had an interest in something, but then you jump to something else?

For example, I have an interest in history, but then the next day may have an interest in something else, like languages, or literature, but then I lose interest in that, and then another day I want to exercise and do something crazy, but then I have like a revelation for an idea for writing an amazing speech about something... blah blah blah?

Does anyone have a lot interests that just come and go? how do you keep the discipline and just stick to something?

you immerse yourself in one thing so much that you don't have time to love anything else....

I dunno...

I have that, but I also have things I love like band and debate. Those things keep me focused while in ther est of my life I'm bouncing around.

It's called being a dilettante.

hooray for vocab!

I went through a period when I was immersed in creating websites and making money off the Internet. About a year and half later, I have almost no interest in it anymore.

Haha, this happens to me too.

having a lot of interests is awesome. it makes you more interesting in conversation :)

That’s actually not bad. It keeps things exciting.

I unfortunately am not like you. But I don’t have a passion either. I just do “whatever.”

Yeah. And it ends up I suck at everything I try.

Yeah, I do. However, all my bouncing around is due to money; that is, I REALLY like History, but I can’t make any money at it so I gave up that interest. I REALLY like science but I can’t make any money as a scientist, and I don’t want to be a doctor. So therefore I ended up choosing lawyer as my future profession. Lots of money, and not an extensive amount of secondary education.
