I dont know if I would pass the MCAT or if i would be able to handle the work. I am an incoming freshman in college. My ACT was a 28. I feel that my low ACT has killed my hopes of scoring a high MCAT score. My friend also told me if I doubt my decision about going pre-med, then I should not do it becaus e it is a huge commitment. How can I know if it is for me? Thank you!
The ACT is not like the MCAT. They are very different exams and each tests a different set of skills and a different knowledge base. Basically until you take the MCAT (or at least some full length MCAT practice exams) you won’t have clue about how well or how poorly you’ll score.
You don’t need to make a decision right this minute about whether or not to apply to medical school. You can try taking a few of the required basic science classes and see how well you do in those before making any final decision.
And remember if you decide not to pursue pre-med at this time, you can always revisit the decision later on. There is no one set timeline or one set path for going to med school. Every individual takes their own path to get there.
