To the people who have done On-campus interviews at Harvard:

I scheduled mine to happen in the coming weeks. I understand this interview is informal and the admissions officers won't have looked at any of my scores, grades, awards, or extracurriculars. Do the officers go so far as to ask the interviewee about intricate details on the scores and the grades, or is it mainly just a conversation about me as a person and information about Harvard?

My daughter had an on-campus interview in June. I thought that the interview would be similar to the alumni interviews (which I do) but it was not. He didn’t ask much (or anything!) about her ECs, grades, or any other stuff, or any of the other questions I usually ask applicants. Instead, he asked if she had questions, and asked her about her high school. I got the impression that it was used by the admissions officer as a “fact finding” opportunity to keep up on current high school life, etc. They spoke for nearly an hour. Make sure you come with interesting stuff to say about your high school (and not about you specifically) and good questions.

Honestly I don’t think they add much weight one way or the other to the application, as they do so few of them.
