On Campus work-study

I'm going to be a freshman in the fall, and I qualify for federal work study. However, I didn't realize I should have started to look earlier in the fall (I thought there would be openings in the fall when school starts) so now there are only a limited number of jobs available on campus for work study. Of those, many also specify that they are only for US citizens.. I'm a permanent resident so that rules me out (unless that counts?). Will there be more job openings when school starts for the fall quarter? What about those federal work study jobs that say for US citizens?

There are plenty of work-study jobs on campus. You’ll be able to find one. If not work-study, then a job nonetheless.

Many stipulate that you have to be a US citizen or permanent resident. Some say “US citizen,” though what they mean is both US citizen or permanent resident. Ask if that’s the case.

There will probably be even more job openings in the fall–many don’t start advertising until later, and many students who held a job somewhere on campus last year will choose not to continue to work there this year (in which case that job opens).

Network. Don’t rely just on online resources. Talk to friends, faculty, staff, your RF / academic director / whoever else, about jobs. I’ve had two jobs on campus, both of which I found out through a friend.

Awesome. Thank you so much!
