Public v Private is not true, a friend of mine at the same school has a different time.

ok. then they all have been disproved

Could someone please tell me where this “time stamp” is found? I am trying to log into the online decisions website, but it just loads up a blank page.

I guess we’ll know tomorrow, though I doubt there’s a correlation…
2340, 4.0/4.84, 12/750
Accepted: Stanford, UChicago
Rejected: MIT
1:16, “have a good semester” logout message
oh CC…

LMAO, nvm. I was putting my password as my PIN, and my PIN as my password into the entry fields xD. Yep, Im Duke material lol.

This is a very very very far stretch but what about

Did the optional essay vs didn’t do the optional essay.

I am a 5:35 and did not. (I know this theory makes little to no sense but I’m desperate for answers here.)

5:35
34 ACT, 2160 SAT IIs. (Chem- 690, USH- 760, Math II- 710)
Accepted: Berkeley, UCLA
Rejected: Stanford

I hope 5:35 is not rejects…:/

I did the optional essay and I’m 5:35 btw.

Didn’t do the optional essay, and I’m 1:16

I think that the best “theory” would be that admitted/rejected decisions are 1:16 and decisions that were borderline were 5:35. It really makes perfect sense.

Ugh…I guess that would make sense considering i was waitlisted at WuSTL and NU -.-

bibsuv, i agree with that as well. i have been wait listed at 4 schools thus far, so i wouldn’t be surprised.

It means that now all 1:16’s won’t get accepted
hahah, I’m one of those!

motion12345’s theory, YES. CREDIT goes to HIM/HER. I was just agreeing/ restating my view.

So, basically my theory…

Or how about NO CORRELATION?

I agree with motion. There definitely has to be a correlation, since there are only two time stamps, and there is no alphabetical/geographical pattern. Furthermore, the stats of the 1:16s range from amazing to people with 1900’s on their SATS (not to detract in any way from these applicants). Also, the 5:35s appear to be more consistent overall in their stats, which would make sense if they are all to receive the same admissions decision. Therefore, in my humble opinion, it only makes sense that the 1:16s are accepts/rejects and the 5:35s are waitlists. Regardless of what these time stamps mean, I wish everyone luck in the process :)

in case anyone’s still interested:
i’m 5:35
sat: 2330
notable acceptances: wustl, ucla oos, berkeley oos, usc + presidential
rejections: nu

5:35’s aren’t necessarily waitlisted students; they’re students whose applications were borderline so there probably are a good number of acceptances, waitlists, and rejections within the group.

Since you all enjoy theories, try this one.

Duke’s third party decision notification service limits uploads to a certain number per entry. Therefore, most were able to be uploaded at that time, whereas the rest needed to be uploaded separately.

It’s really hard to tell at this point. So I would just watch the Duke v. Baylor game and hope for the best tomorrow.

I’d laugh if all the 5:35s got in and the 1:16s were waitlists and rejects. But that’s not happening.

And as Ryan just said above, the website is a third party system. Duke does not upload the decisions, the third-party does. And I’m going to go out on a limb and say I’m pretty sure its impossible to upload 20-30k decisions at one time so it would make sense some were uploaded later.

ryanh126 and An0nmity, normally I would agree with you guys, but with more and more people posting, it’s getting pretty clear that those of us with 5:35 are the ones with more mediocre stats. Now it doesn’t necessarily mean a rejection or a waitlist, but it does seem to show some correlation.
