On the Duke decisions check place...

my friend was an AB duke scholar semifinalist (already accepted) and she has 1:16 too

It could just mean that they knew they were already going to admit the likely letter people so they were added to the system.

I hate to burst everyones bubbles but I scored a 1960 (I know, I know, not so great), did not receive a likely letter and have 1:16 :-/

i was just reading the ed thread and someone with a 1960 got in and someone with a 2400 was rejected. JGA, don’t give up.

JGA, are you a minority or legacy by any chance?

Correlation does not imply causation.

JGA, please post more stats!

2340/Val/decent ECs here…I was a 1:16er. Though, I doubt it means much.

Btw…I found (after some post stalking) that JGA is hispanic and was admitted to Northwestern already. So, its entirely reasonable that she got into Duke too.

Which school did you guys having the 1:16 time apply to? I applied to college of arts and science and have the 1:16 time.

1:16, applied to Trinity…

I was a 1:16. 2190, 34, 4.5 W/4.0 UW, 3/200, decent ec’s. I thought my supplement essays were mediocre. I don’t expect to get in, but we’ll see! I applied to Pratt.

ohhh good alternate theory
I applied to trinity too and i have 1:16

EDIT: nvm the post above me disproved knight’s theory

This seems pretty ridiculous, but I’ll bite.
36 ACT, USAMO, USNCO, and Eagle Scout here @ 1:16.
Also, the time could have a correlation to when the application’s decision was made, and that those people with later times had applications that were decided latest.

1.16

^ I doubt that theory. There are only two times: 1:16 and 5:35. It’s very unlikely that they would make one “batch” of decisions, then wait a few hours, and make another “batch” of decisions. For your theory to be true, there would have to be myriad upload times, not just two.

The theory that the upload time somehow correlates to the admission decision is much more probable, seeing as how there are two times–1:16 and 5:35, and two decisions–accept and reject, though both theories are a crapshoot!

35 ACT, 17 AP courses, 3.9 UW, mediocre ECs, no interview 1:16
Accepted to Northwestern, Berkeley

Hmm…it’s been a while since someone with 5:35 posted…

This is all getting ridiculous! I have no idea what to think…

But I have 1:16 and admitted to Vanderbilt and Emory so far

^Stats? 10char

my guess is that it means ABSOLUTELY nothing.

the chances of every one of the 1 16 people on here getting accepted are slim. comparing sat scores doesn’t actually do you anything because duke has a reputation of looking past scores, and on average the two times are pretty close anyways. so much more goes into an application. for example, i got a 2030 on my sat, but i had a fabulous interview and i have great ecs.

just wait one day.

by the way, i’m a 5 35
