On the right track?

Hey guys! Now that I'm a rising junior and starting to think about colleges, my extra-curriculars are coming to my attention. Are my extra-curriculars a serious impediment when talking about Ivy leagues and other top colleges, or am I "on the right track?" Here are my EC's (the years indicated in parenthesis are number of years I'll have completed by my senior year):

Model UN (4 years)
-A pretty active member, and will mostly likely have a leadership position next year.

Robotics Club (3 years)
- Our school has competed in the FIRST championship and placed every year for a while

Varsity Tennis (4 years)

Chess Club (2 years)-- may have leadership position this year
- Will most likely place in local tournaments this year

Science Research Projects at a local university
- Won 3rd place at a regional competition, an award from the American Cancer Society, and another award for applied science
- Will participate in the same regional competition again, in addition to another metro area competition

Investment Club (2 years)- will be next year's president
- on a similar note, I started a business that made ~$100 last month

Trombone (6 years)
- participated in the school's pep band freshman year, and am currently in a band that plays local gigs quite often

Interned with a nephrologist over the summer, helped him with research (150+ hours)

This year I'll most probably make it into all the honors societies that my school has to offer (national spanish honors society, national history honors society, mu alpha theta, national honors society, national english society, and the science national honors society). I'm looking into having at least 1-2 leadership positions in these societies, obviously in my favorite subject areas. I'm also thinking about joining the debate club and doing various leadership seminars over the summer.

Oh, if it matters, I will also have 200-300 hours of community service by the time I'm applying to colleges, mostly from tutoring and volunteering at a hospital.

Edit: I'm also a member of my school's fundraising committee, and have won awards for the national spanish exam (if this matters at all).

Thanks for your input everybody.

Could anybody offer me some advice based on previous experience, etc?

check threads for accepted students at whatever universities you’re looking at.

Are you Sasa?

Idk, maybe he’s not the only trombone-playing kid.

ANyways you’re on the robotics team? And Chess Club? Lol sweet!

And they look good. The science awards are good, especially VJAS ones. I’d imagine the internship is good.

Bump. Any other differing opinions?

Bump. Also, how much do leadership positions during junior year matter? Would it look bad if all of mine were in my senior year?

They look decent, nothing spectacular, nothing glaringly horrid. You just will appear average EC-wise with all of the other applicants to very top schools. And, once again:

Yes, you are on the right track.

Thanks guys. I was just wanted to make sure my ECs wouldn’t be detrimental to my application. I feel that my other parts of the app will help me stand out. ONce again, thanks for the input.

Way too many EC’s and you don’t stand out in them at all…

Just sayin’

Focus, laser focus…

Sure, you have MUN, science, chess, robotics, etc.
It DOES seem like you are all over the place. On the other hand, does this make him a versatile candidate?

I think you can get major points for describing your nephrology internship. Not a lot of kids get that kind of opportunity. Props.

Things like chess club are chill, but wont necessarily help you. Especially the fact that you only picked it up junior year. The fact that you pick it up junior year then become captain or w/e senior/junior year gives the impression that you just joined it for the leadership benefit.
Maybe I;m overthinking it…
