Im a transfer student and I was wondering what the Pros and Cons are of living on or off campus when i transfer? Im most probably going to Cal.

On-campus pros:
Close to your classes
All the residents go to that school

On-campus cons:
You don’t get to make your own rules (quiet hours, you can’t have booze etc)
Can be more expensive than off-campus

Off-campus pros:
Can be cheaper than on-campus
You get to make your own rules

Off-campus cons:
Farther from classes
Where you live there might not be as many students

That’s all I can think of.

I was a transfer student and lived on campus my first year. It was a very good decision. I was able to make alot of friends and be a part of the school more. If you live off campus, you might feel like an outsider looking in.

Live on campus for a year, then get an apartment with one of your friends.
