What should I take into consideration when I decide where I am living once school begins? Although I'm looking for general information, anything specific to UC Davis is better. Out of the schools I've heard back from they are probably my top choice. When I try to do research, though, I hear that on-campus housing is cheaper/better and also that off-campus housing is cheaper/better. Where can I find legitimate information? What should I take into consideration when I make my choice? What are your personal opinions and stories? At first glance, off-campus housing sounds more like what I want than sharing a dorm, so is that enough or should I consider more?

every UC is different but a universal rule is try to live on campus your first year, especially at a UC. it's the best way to initally meet people and get comfortable.

That is good to know. I should also say that I will be a transfer student, accepted under chemistry. I don't know if that makes any difference but just so the info is out there.

UC dorm life is pretty social....I wouldn't advise living elsewhere for your first semeste.
