one last chance before acceptances come out..

I applied to NYU, BU, Northeastern, Middlebury, Bowdoin, Colgate, Hamilton, U Richmond and was accepted to my safety

Recommendations

  • Counselor: 8.5/10. she knows me well since she’s my test proctor for an online class (chinese 4) so I don’t need to go to school for 1st period and therefore can have more time for skating practice in the mornings
  • US History Teacher: 11/10. I was his favorite student so that helped a lot lol
  • Precalculus Teacher: 7/10. I was one of his best students in the class but I think the rec was just okay/pretty good

Essays:

  • Personal statement: excellent. wrote a story about one of the students in my ice skating classes and and how teaching her taught me as well. 9/10 maybe?
  • supplemental essays: the ones sent to NYU, BU, and Bowdoin were well written but a little weaker than my personal statement and not that special. I sent a phenomenal essay, IMO 10/10, about rice (yes, rice) to Colgate, Richmond, Northeastern, and Middlebury.

Let me know what you think!

You have very similar stats to mine. Your ECs show very good focus towards skating. With the lowish GPA and test scores all of the schools you listed will still be reached. I wouldn’t say impossible, but your stats hold you back a little bit. I wish you the best of luck!

You might expect to get into about three of these schools, with BU and URichmond being the most likely possibilities.

thanks for the feedback!

Let us know how you do @camwow. Good luck!

of course!

Also, just to be more clear, I applied to the following colleges within the university in this order:
NYU 1.) Steinhardt (Education) 2.) LSP (Liberal Studies) 3.) Professional Studies (Sports Mgmt)
BU 1.) Questrom School of Business 2.) General studies
Northeastern 1.) College of Social Science and Humanities

I would say you have a shot at BU and NE, - the others are reaches based on your gpa and SAT.
Your ECs are interesting and set you apart, but for the more competitive schools on your list, they may not make a difference. An ec is more likely to make a difference if you fall solidly in the middle or above the avg stats for the school.

bumppp

Didn’t Northeastern decisions come out already?

@wisteria100 yup, I got rejected but oh well
