One last chance, PLEASE! (UCs, NYU, USC, JHU, Ivies)

Hey guys,
I go to an American school in Asia that sends a lot of graduates to Top 20 schools.
My stats are not even close to top notch, but my parents are quite pushy so I'm applying to many top schools.
I don't need to apply to more safeties though, since I got into UMich already.

Essays:
A teacher (former Harvard admissions staff) said my commonapp essay is extremely well-written so I'm not worried about it.
I'm currently working on the supplements and things are going smoothly.

Intended Major:
Chemical Engineering
Economics at NYU

Schools:
Brown U
Cornell U
Dartmouth U
Columbia U
Johns Hopkins U
UCSD, UCLA, UCB, UCI, UCD
Tufts U
USC
NYU (Stern)

erm, don't apply to all the UCs. just apply to UCLA and UCB considering you have UMich in the bag. unless, of course there's some special reason for you to keep it on. anyway, these are my predictions:

brown - out
cornell - in/out (hard to say)
dartmouth - out (very hard for internationals. take it out unless u have a really good reason to keep)
columbia - out
JHU - in/out (like cornell)
UCSD - in
UCLA - in
UCB - in/out (ditto cornell/JHU)
UCI - in
UCD - in
Tufts - in (if your essay is as good as you say it is)
USC - in
NYU Stern - hard to say, but probably out

you say you don't want safeties and yet you have quite a few on that list.

Thanks for the reply, srrinath.
I'm an American citizen, will I still be considered international when applying?
If I'm not considered international, what do you think my chance at Dartmouth is like?

Yeah I agree with you on Davis and Irvine,
but I got Michigan's decision after the UC deadline so I couldn't change my application.

bump!

10char

c'mon guys!
almost 200 views but only one person replied!

Are you kidding? Your stats are amazing. You should be in all of them if you're an American citizen.
Don't apply to Stern though. I wanna go there, and you're defff. gonna make me look bad haha.

nihon de sundeimasu ka.

Thanks parthiv! I'm very worried about my math grades though.
Only ONE A- in my entire high school math career lol, sad isn't it.

question_quest, 日本語喋れますが、台湾に住んでいますよ~

bump bump bump

the UC's aren't safeties because they strongly favor Cali kids.
Ivies - no
USC,Tufts, JH - yes
NYU - borderline, probably not because you don't have anything to do with business really..

Brown--Match to Slight Reach
Cornell--Match
Dartmouth--Slight Reach
Columbia--Reach
Johns Hopkins--Match
UCSD--Match
UCLA--Slight Reach
UCB--Slight Reach
UCI--Safe Match
UCD--Safe Match
Tufts--Match
USC--Match
NYU--note, economics at NYU in in the College of Arts and Sciences, not in Stern, which is the business school, so chances at CAS--Match, and chances at Stern--Match to Slight Reach (closer to Match)

Also, I find it weird that you applied to all the top UCs except UCSB--and you didn't apply to Duke, yet these two schools both have chemical engineering programs ranked as being in the top 5 nationally. Also, Illinois has a top chemical engineering program, and could serve as a safety for you.
