Recommendations: Pretty good

Essay: I wrote about how I was a failing student in math that managed to become an A student. I went from flunking Algebra I in 8th grade to AP statistics and Pre-Calculus.( I will also go in depth about how I improved, and how I felt when I was failing. The part about me being a teacher of math is the catch, I guess!)

Another one I had was about me losing my shyness and stepping up to become president of a philosophy club, and how I did presentations, and facilitated/led activities for over 100 people.

Other:
-I am in the top 10% of my class of 300 at an OKAY high school [about 20 people each year end up at pretty good schools. (UCLA,UCB,etc.)]
-I am also low income.
-I will be the first in my family to attend a university.

Thank you for reading! Please chance me, and I'll do my best to chance you back! :)
Once again, the schools I applied for:

University of Michigan Ann Arbor
UNC Chapel Hill
UC Berkeley+UCLA
UCSD, UCI, UCD
Pitzer College
Claremont McKenna College

I think you shouldn’t have an issue getting into any of your schools. I don’t really know a lot about any of the schools besides Chapel Hill, but I know that Chapel Hill is difficult to get accepted to out of state, however, like I said, your GPA, EC’s, and grades are all impressive, so good luck.

Thanks! It’s too bad only one person has replied so far ): The problem is a lot of the schools are not in California, so I’ll be applying OOS, so I’ll have to be a lot more competitive than an in-state student.

I understand. A lot of mine are out of state too, so its kind of difficult to gauge.

you should get into all of these universities with your stats. You won’t have any trouble at all.

Wow, thanks! Do you think I have a chance at a low Ivy?

UCB/UCLA: Match. Pretty selective schools, but since you’re in-state, I’m fairly certain you’ll get into at least one of these, with your stats/ECs/Essays

Other UCs: Safety.

University of michigan: Match. Although you’re out of state, I think you have a good chance.

UNC: Match. You seem well qualified, even for an OOS.

And for the Claremount colleges, I think you have a good chance to get in.

I think lower-ivy league schools will be reaches though. But you’d have a shot at anywhere, so maybe try applying to schools like Cornell, Brown, Penn.

Thanks. Bump.
