Don’t limit yourself to thinking there are only X-number of schools where you could be happy and successful.

There are great colleges of all sizes and descriptions because it isn’t so much the teachers or buildings or connections that make a college great it is you. I’m not saying all teachers are equal. They aren’t. But if a student is tuely motivated he/she can get a lot out of college. You need not choose as a college as if it is a life and death situation. It isn’t. I can name two dozen schools off the top of my head that I would love to send my sons too and I wouldn’t lose a minute of sleep over it either way.

I personally like “If your all friends hate your significant other, consider getting a new significant other, not all new friends.”

Even for outgoing kids who have worked hard to find the right “fit” in a school, that first semester of freshman year can bring loneliness, awkwardness, false starts and homesickness. Realize that it can take a while to make a place your home.

Don’t mind me. I’d forgotten that I’d started this thread…in 2005.

I like #204.

I like #204 also very applicable to my life.

Apply to at least one rolling admit school and be accepted before your senior year begins.

Thanks to CC and all the longtime posters (you know who you are) for this wisdom. It has made for a much more relaxing Sr year. S still applied to several other schools but he will attend this school because it is such a great fit and offers great merit.

God said it I believe it that settles it.
