First, let me say a little something about myself. I am currently going to the 12th grade and already took the SAT once. After several SAT books (official guide, Barrons 2400, Kaplan, and some some) and spending over 10000 (yes, thats right, ten thousand dollars), I received a 1900. Next time I take the SATs, I plan on getting a 2100+. Now, I don't blame all these for my score, but I can tell you I would have gotten the same score with spending all that money. (A hint here, it is a serious waste of money to do any of these prep courses, unless you are completely oblivious of the SAT or you have a tutor who is really good). Anyways, I will be retaking the SAT on October and I needed something to practice from, a new book. While going through Barnes and Nobles, I found a book, "The Rocket Review Revolution: The Ultimate Guide to the New SAT". While I was flipping through the pages,I thought to myself, "wow, this is good". I purchased the book and went home and read through all the intro sections. This is one of the BEST books for the SAT. Here's why:
1. It is easy to understand
2. It has really good advice in general and on specific things...
3. Overall, I think that if you have not looked at this book, you should really go to your local book store and check it out.

yep...i am considering to get that book...i am just waiting for one more person to verify it's usefulness

WOW I have never heard of anyone blowing $10,000 just on the SAT. What a complete waste of money!

It's not what materials you use, but how you spend your time studying...reviewing strategies, mastering the fundamentals, practicing like crazy, reviewing your errors, etc. Just throwing money at it isn't going to do it for you.

Wow wow wow.

I spent 12,000 dollars on SAT classes. It's called C2 education. It cost so much because you have to prepay the hours and they make you think like you need a lot.

Exactly, I feel so bad wasting my parents money. I mean, I did a lot of work. But it was just taking practice tests and reading from SAT books. Something I could have done myself...

Spending over $10,000 to have an adult give you a prep book and tell you to practice. Sounds good to me.

if you have anymore money to spend, and october is your last chance, I recommend signing up for the Testmasters online course (they have a 300 point increase guarantee) and get the 'Up your score' book.

10,000 dollars!!! wow... actually I spent almost same ,,(at C2 haha)
Well, my score boosted(1320. <lol> --->1800~1900 for 1 year) but I think C2 isn't really good..</lol>

leetx, I have the underground sat book and that is also very good. Is the Testmasters online course good?

spending ridiculous amounts of money isn't worth it, even if it does give you a perfect score. getting into your dream school is important, but i think grad school is much more important. save it for the mcats and lsats lol

I have never paid for an SAT class.
I got to princetonreveiew . com /summerprep and look at the free classes.
Today, for example, I am taking a free SAT test.
I have been getting the SAT QOTD from collegeboard in my email since 9th grade.
Three years later, never having owned a SAT book, I took the SAT and broke 2000. I'm not a genius or anything. I really think it is just all the repetition...
So, I suggest the QOTD email.

After several SAT books (official guide, Barrons 2400, Kaplan, and some some) and spending over 10000 (yes, thats right, ten thousand dollars), I received a 1900.

R O F L. I fell out of my chair and laughed for a full minute after reading that sentence.

how do you still get a 1900 after that much test preparation?

anyway...why do you think that this prep book will improve your score by so much when all of the other stuff didn't help?

Look who's the unlucky one...
I'm from China and resources for SAT are really scarce here...

I had to buy the BARRON's stuff from Amazon...and the postage was 3 times as much as the cost of the books.

By the way, if I aim to get a >2200, how many mistakes can I make in Writing/CR section (at most)?? (My math is good so it won't be hard for me to get an 800 in that section.)

My approximation:

CR-7 wrong for 700 to be safe
Writing-10 essay, 6 wrong for 700 to be safe

very good!
