<p>I came to this thread late but I am also glad you chose NYU. I live near Sacto and my S did not even apply to any UCs, CSUs, or ANY schools in California. He definitely wanted to live in a different part of the country away from the same kids he went to school with. We toured 9 schools on the east coast, he fell in love with Boston University and applied ED. He's adapted to the weather ---occasionally wears a coat--- and has many amazing friends from all over the country.</p>
<p>Since you aren’t in Stern, I see no reason to go to NYU. You aren’t going to get the “real” college experience since the campus is really spread out. I personally don’t think NYU is worth the money, period. The school is extremely overrated academically though it does have a few very good programs (Business, Film).</p>
<p>UCD is in a real college town, is very good academically (I think it’s on the same level as NYU), and is reasonable. Davis is a pretty fun school. Not a big fan of the weather though. People I know who have graduated from Davis have gotten good jobs out of college.</p>
<p>Did you apply to UC Irvine? That might have been a better fit for you.</p>
