Does anyone know if there is any rhyme or reason behind whether you sing one song or two? Or if ear training/scales is good and how much that weighs in on the decision?

mikefriday, I don't have the answer you seek, but imagine that those who are "in the know" about this would advise you not to try to read too much into the situations you describe.

I thought I'd tag along on this one, since there are many threads now "floating around" on audition analysis, and as NMR points out, it is really so much better not to read into situations. I realize that this is incredibly difficult, but you are truly much better off.

Just some thoughts: sometimes auditors may be blown away by someone's talent after just hearing a few bars or hearing a few lines, and actually don't need to hear more. It is also entirely possible that they are "on the fence' and are giving someone a second chance by letting them do some more material, or, they enjoy someone so much that they just want to see them do more.

All very different scenario's and yet, equally inconclusive about the eventual outcome.

It really is more whether or not YOU felt you did the best you could, and if so, you simply hope you have what a school is looking for :).
