One thing you wish you had done to prepare for college?

Okay, now you are already in college, and if there were one thing you can re-do to make yourself more prepared for college - what is it?

I'll start with myself:
I wish I could have polished my time-management skills, so I wouldn't be in such a great rush.

Time-management skills as well. I couldn’t split up my time between academics and social life which screwed me over during my freshman year.

I wish I learned speed reading. As a slow reader who’s prelaw, the workload sucks.

^^^ I actually picked up a book on speed reading, and every weekend I would practice in the mornings! Its actually pretty helpful although I’m an engineer!

I don’t think there’s much that I would change. I was pushed to the limit when I was in HS, so I more prepared than most people when I entered college. Although I did wish I took AP chem…

I wish I had gotten more savings together that I wouldn’t have minded using for spending money in between jobs. I have a few thousand in my savings account but I need to buy a car when I graduate so I don’t have enough to really get away with spending anything now. It’s hard to have a social life without any money to spend at all.

I wish I had actually visited my school before coming

@magneto you didnt visit? so i guess you dont like your school?

Time management skills, most definitely. Not that my grades have suffered because of it, but I have many memories of crunching info in my brain like you wouldn’t believe for a test the next day, or pounding out an essay the day before it was due. I guess once you know you’ll do ok by that method, it’s hard to change… but boy does it suck. :(

go to a school i could definitely afford. I would not have to take out so many loans. I would not have my brother complaining about when he will be taken of as a my cosigner.

@ pierrechn

nope not at all. I had never even heard of my school until I got in. lol but seriously

nothing. college is pretty much a joke

@Magneto dang lol what school do you go 2>

Must be a tricky procedure to apply to a school you have never heard of.

Anyway, the best thing I did to prepare myself for college had nothing to do with preparing for college. I enlisted in the Marine Corps. Learned a lot about responsibility and time management. I got medically discharged. Now I hold a management position at a market research company and I’m 19 years old and I don’t have a college degree. Now I’m going to school in the fall and I have the experience and discipline to do it properly.

@manhattan75 so did you get sick? or have a limb removed/blown off? (btw im not trying to be an A - HOLE)

I got a virus that messed up my digestive system, which in turn messed up my intestines. Yes, I would say I got sick. Was in the hospital for two weeks and then the evaluation holding platoon (medical platoon) for two months.

Wish I was more motivated my freshman year since I ended with a 3.1 cumulative, especially after getting a C+ in a stupid class like Introduction to Communication and a writing course (and I’m an English major, damn it) =</p>

But it’s sophomore year, and I received a 3.7 semester GPA in the fall, and most likely will get a 3.8 this semester =)

Well lets all go enlist in the marine corps. :D

I wish I had developed better social skills. Being quiet and introverted sucks!

@pierrechn

Case Western

Totally regret not going to see it. Also, not really practicing socializing with random people in high school. could have cut down on some of the nervousness
