so what?

time means nothing to me.

yeah i stay up way too late these days.

pinker, btw do you see financial aid for ucla?

same here haha

yeah, i’ve got the summary.
didn’t someone say something about the MyUCLA site being up soon? or was it the two column switch on the URSA that will reveal the SIR link??
ahhh, stoned and anxious.

nice pinker. congrats

i can’t believe i’m awake right now…

I so wanna bounce on my class right now.
I have my books in the class.
Do you think that the professor will mind it?

“And, just in case you wanted to know, I would prefer to live with smokers/drinkers, even though I only drink occasionally and don’t smoke, because I’ve found them to be more open and friendly.”

hey hey! I don’t smoke (cigarettes) and rarely drink (mostly because I’m too poor) and I’m pretty darn nice!

Hey old people on this board: we should all rent an apartment together and reminisce about the good old days of power rangers and pogs.

wait i played with pogs and watched power rangers…is 20 old? lol

It sounds like most of you are talking about the dorms at UCLA, but if anyone over the age of 22 is interested in dorming and will be attending UCB, check out the International House. It is not filled with 18 year olds, but will still give you that dorm experience. They accept upper division undergrads, exchange students, grad students, visiting scholars, post docs, and visiting professors. The split between int’l and US students is about 50/50. The age range tends to average around 23 I would guess, but there are people living here who are older. If you are 25, it won’t be weird at all. (I will say that it is more expensive than a room in a shared apartment, and it is even more expensive than private studios in Berkeley, but socially it is great. The location can’t be beat, either.)

Still debating whether to get something off-campus or not wherever I end, this was an informational thread…thanks.

…wow you guys. LOLOL.

Sounds pretty good, but do you think it’s worth the extra $2,000 as opposed to the dorms?

Dorms are too dirty, plus you have to share bathrooms. I prefer privacy. What is wrong with just joining clubs and participating in other activities for fun. College is about studying anyways, although some may argue it is a social thing.

Can somebody help me on clarifying the terms?
I am very unfamiliar with the terms. :(

Dorm, Plaza, Apartment, Suite, Residential Halls, (and if there are anymore terms I should know.:))

From what I’m guessing now…
Dorm = Residential Halls
and Apartment = Suites
and Plaza…??
and the difference between Studio and Single?

I am kind of confused.
Maybe they are all different?

Thanks in advance. :D

my question is do you still get the same social aspect with a suite as you do in a dorm?

@glenn, from what i’ve heard, no. dorms (residence halls) are way more social.

that sucks…so you have to choose from a nicer place or a more social place? Wouldn’t you rather just get an apt instead of a Suite then? I mean since you don’t even get the social aspect of it…

Dorm is just too expensive for me, I can’t afford to pay 10,000 dollars at once. Is there a way I can pay those fees monthly? If only I can pay half of the fee beforehand and pay the rest monthly while I work, I would definitely prefer dorm. As a matter of fact, how does payment work? Can I use my credit card?
If I choose to go university apartment, which seems less expensive (http://map.ais.ucla.edu/go/1002814), how far is it from the campus? Do I need to take bus? And is it hard to join college-social-life as dorms even if it’s university apt?

^^^
I think you can pay monthly.
