Hello everyone,
First of all, allow me to introduce myself.
I am a dual-citizen of both France and the United States through my parents however I’ve lived and thus studied in France my entire life. I’ve always thought I might possibly pursue studying in the US after graduation High School but it wasn’t until last year that I started the process and became truly serious about it.
I go to a top public school in perhaps the best school district in the country and I’m in a special section which serves a sort of Honors program for the best students.
The selection process starts in middle-school, 7th grade to be precise. Candidates are evaluated on grades and an interview which is incredibly stressful for a 13 year-old. To continue this in High School, one must maintain a very high gpa throughout 8th and 9th grade. I was fortunate enough to be accepted.
Currently, the program has me taking 8 classes, all Honors and AP level. It’s very demanding and leaves no time for any meaningful involvement of some kind outside the classroom. I’ve doing fine but the the classes being what they are, I have B’s. My EC’s are average for someone from France but my curriculum is extremely demanding.
I’m scheduled to take the ACT for the first time in June (current junior) however my TOEFL score is in the 115/120 range.
My parents are not going to be able to pay full price for college thus I’m actively seeking merit-scholarships/grants + financial aid to cover the cost of education.
Anyway, I’m looking to study Economics/Business with classes in International Relations and Politics at a 4 year US college.
Location is very important as I find large urban settings desirable. Furthermore, I’d like to intern/work during the year. My goal is start and manage a Real Estate Investment Fund in NYC. Northeast (NYC, Boston, DC), South Florida and California would be ideal.
I’ll update this as I sit for multiple ACT’s and apply to excellent Universities and very competitive Honors Programs as American educated abroad.
I’ll be posting temporary lists of schools as I go along.
