I am a newly admitted transfer student and I utilized the online advising that UCSD advertises as a helpful resource. My first couple of questions went really well, prompt clear answers about petitions for Gen Chem ( that apparently a lot of transfers had to do) . My next question went to the physics department and that’s when it went south. They are so rude and condescending. I got the most vague and general answer about whether I could still take an articulated course somewhere else, I told Antoinette Moore that I am not clear on whether thats a yes or a no, and she sent me back this:
“We are sorry that you did not understand that when we said “Please refer to and trust the formal articulations on Assist.org between CA Community Colleges and the UCSD Physics Department” we were making it clear that you are eligible to satisfy a listed articulation from any school on Assist.org.”
First of all I am a new student, I have very little experience with course articulations and when I expressed this concern to the transfer advisors at UCSD they told me not to fret and that online advisors are patient and helpful. I call BS! This lady was straight up patronizing me. I don’t deserve a sarcastic 'We are sorry" I’m paying you 9 grand a quarter to help me and teach me, the least you could do is send me a clear friggin email.
My advice, stay away from the online system and just see the advisors in person if you can. If not just wait until you’ve enrolled for classes and then you can go see an advisor in person even if you’re a new admit.
