Online Application - photograph?

The Penn application suggests sending a recent photo of yourself so that they can match a face to the application. However, (at least with the Common App), it’s not possible to send a photo online. Should I mail a photograph of myself to the admission office, with a short note like “this is my photograph to go with my application”? Or does it really not make any difference?

If I remember correctly, if you apply online, you'll need to submit a separate paper with your signature. I think they give you the link to it when you submit your application. Its just a verification thing since a web signature is not the same as your actual one. On the paper, they ask you to submit a photograph. So you can send your photograph along with that.

yep stick it in there. make sure it is on an 8.5 x 11 and put your last four ss numbers on it

8.5 x 11? r u serious... isn't that a little too big?

i just sent in a 4 x 6 one

if you're ugly, don't send it. Nobody likes an ugly applicant.

4815162342, haha that's soooo politically incorrect but sooo true.

no no, penn is serious. if ur rly ugly, theyd rather you not send in ur picture. it will negatively impact your application...

when the reader has to throw it away before going through it because he saw your picture before he read your application

it doesnt matter if its a 4x6 as long as its on an 8.5 by 11 so they can 3 hole punch it and put it in their notebook

and you better be some hot looking **** to send in a picture, or just have met your regional director

what paper are you talking about? i applied using common app and i never saw a "signature paper" that said to send a photo

there is a signature paper that you have to mail in, they are saying to just put your picture in that envelope too

yeah, but where exactly is that signature paper? i looked all over the common app site, i rechecked the penn online supplement that i sent, and i'm finding nothing. perhaps that paper is just required/available with penn's own online app, not common app?

If you are ugly: don't send it

If you are Asian/Indian/Jewish or some other over-represented minority: don't send it

Sad but true.

and that sounds strange that they would require a special signature paper, as i have completed apps to a lot of other schools which all seem to think that an electronic signature is just fine

lol i'm jewish, but i don't look stereotypically jewish. and it's not like they couldn't just check my ECs list or other parts of the app to find out my religion.

did you do ED to penn? if you did then there is a signature page you should have sent in, it is the ED contract thing..

where does it say there's a signature page? I can't find the signature page on Penn's online app

its under the printable form section where the teacher recs are i believe. If its not there it prints out when your done with 1a

They don't do it to match the photo with the application, but to see if they've met you throughout the year.

I applied RD. So I guess there's no signature page?
