If a class shows as 100% online in the corse catalog, but gives a specific period for the class, do you have to do the work during that period? If not, will the system let you register for an in person class during that same class period?
which class were you looking at?
usually if its 100% online. there is no in-person class component
MCB2000 for the fall. It says 100% online but lists it as period 2.
yeah something doesn’t make sense there - its says its 100 percent online but then shows the class meets M, W, F during period 2 which makes it sound like classroom only
if you look up the syllabus for that class, it says attendance is not mandatory and the lectures are recorded live during the class period then posted online later that day. So maybe its considered online since you can watch the lectures online and are not required to attend the class; but then it also says exams have to be taken in the class.
I would email the biology department or the professor himself and ask them to clarify
A lot of UF “online” classes are simply lectures, which you have the option of attending, that are recorded and can be viewed online. You still have to come to campus for test. A lot of the large intro classes are setup like this. Usually with some type of discussion session during the week (for questions).
UF also has fully “online” classes, with group projects and test being done online. These take a LOT more effort to setup by UF, but work really well. How many you may take of these vary by major/program of study, but my daughter has taken 1 in the last 3 years. On the other hand, she’s had a few courses with recorded lectures.
I’m taking a class in the fall that says 100% online and also lists a period but it’s actually a hybrid. I have lectures online but one day a week I go in and have a discussion section.
