Online Classes?

So, I am taking a few online courses through an accredited online school (which sends grades for courses back to my school to be included in my transcript upon completion), and have run into a dilema. The majority of the classes I am taking are AP, and I want to be able to report the fact that I am taking them to colleges that I will be applying to in the fall. However, the online school has a policy that grades will not be released to my regular school (to be included on my transcript) until the AP exam is completed, regardless of when I finish the actual course. How can I report these classes and grades to colleges if they are not officially included on my transcript yet?

Ask your school to put it in with an “In progress” note? Seems like a bad policy, since a student might not be able to graduate without certain classes. Have you tried contacting the online school? Or is it a giant soulless machine?

Is there any way you can get an unofficial transcript or letter from the person in charge of that describes what your performance is like?

On the Common App, you will be asked what courses you are currently taking. List those courses, and then ask your GC to write a brief explanation, and try to get some form of unofficial documentation from your online school.

One of my son’s online school also had that policy. An unofficial transcript did solve the problem.

Actually, they do get it in time for graduation since my school graduates students in June and the grades get put in right after AP exams.

I think I’ll do that. I just talked with one of my online teachers and she’s willing to write up a report with my grade and course info for colleges. I’ll just see if the other teachers would do that, and ask my guidance counseler to include a note of it on his rec.

Thanks for all the help =)
