So I just got into an argument with the science department head at my HS who was kinda reluctant to let me take an online Biology course. It includes a lab component, but he says I still can't earn lab credit for it, and this other person says that its a risky course to take with regards to college admission. Is this true?

Bump................

Well, do you already have enough lab credits just in case?

Yes, I'm going to have prolly 4 lab credits by the time I graduate but she says it makes a difference, so I dunno.

Difference in what? If its risky, who not do it ;) Seriously, do you think you're able to do it, and have you taken another online course before?

Ya, but not in science. The issue isn't whether I'm able to do it, it's the fact that I can't get lab credit. She says it would be a drawback in college admissions.

Well, from my experience in online school, FLVS, all online classes are the same. Why not go one up on her and ask your Guidance Counselor, he/she probably know for sure? Also, does your school offer AP Bio, assuming thats what the bio course online is?

It's Biology, and ya, my school offers it.

Why aren't you just taking it at school if it's just Biology? (When are you graduating...Biology is like a Freshmen, Sophomore class...)

I want to get ahead and take some more challenging classes.

like what? you really don't need to rush through high school...

bottom line
If you take it online and don't get lab credit, chances are colleges won't care as long as you have the recommended amount, assuming you don't fail it.
